Comparing stewardship platforms

Harris Medici alternative for hospitals that mainly need the antibiogram

Medici is a stewardship and NHSN reporting platform sold through Harris. If the report your committee actually waits for is the cumulative antibiogram, there is a lighter route with a price you can read before a call.

Short answer

Harris Medici is a stewardship platform from Asolva, now part of Harris OnPoint, that Harris says was the first vendor solution to pass both the NHSN antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance validations. It is quoted by Harris, with no published price. If you need the cumulative antibiogram rather than a full platform, Antimicrobe builds it from a lab susceptibility CSV, follows CLSI M39, and costs $249 a month for one facility.

Computed from your own isolates, never from a national average.

What Medici does and when you should keep it

Harris OnPoint describes Medici as an antimicrobial stewardship solution validated by CDC for antimicrobial use and resistance reporting, ONC certified, able to connect to any EHR, with implementation measured in weeks. Its functions include sharing antibiogram reports. If your hospital needs AUR submission to NHSN for the CMS Promoting Interoperability program, a validated platform is the right purchase and an antibiogram tool does not replace it.

When a Medici alternative makes sense

  • The antibiogram is the report your P and T committee asks for each year and it is still built by hand
  • AUR submission is already handled by your EHR vendor or another platform
  • You do not want an interface project to get one annual report
  • The contract renewal needs a number and Harris has not given one in writing

What the antibiogram tool does

Antimicrobe keeps the first isolate per patient, flags any organism under 30 isolates, cuts by unit, source and quarter, and prints every rule on the report. The Lab plan covers one facility with 25,000 isolates and two seats and is bought by card on the pricing page. It does not fire real-time alerts or submit AUR data. How the method works is on the CLSI M39 antibiogram software page.

Questions

On this page's topic

How much does Harris Medici cost?

Harris does not publish Medici pricing, so the number comes from a quote. Ask for it itemized by license, implementation, support and interfaces. Antimicrobe publishes its plans from $249 a month for one facility.

Is Medici validated for NHSN reporting?

Harris states that Medici was the first vendor solution to pass both the AU and AR validations, and NHSN lists Medici among vendors that passed AU validation. Check the current CDC vendor list before you buy.

Does Antimicrobe submit AUR data to NHSN?

No. It builds the cumulative antibiogram and does not submit AUR data or fire real-time alerts, so it sits beside a validated platform or an EHR module.

Can I replace Medici with Antimicrobe?

Only for the antibiogram. If you rely on Medici for NHSN submission or alerts, keep it and move the annual report to a lower-cost tool.
